Connect your AI to Scene24
The Scene24 connector lets the AI you already use make films with Scene24. It reads your product's site and brand, builds the film in the grammar of a reference ad, looks at preview stills, fixes what does not hold up, and gives you the film in Scene24's editor.
The thinking happens in your AI, on your plan there; Scene24 captures, builds, checks and renders. It works with Claude Code, Codex CLI, ChatGPT, and claude.ai and Claude Desktop.
Set up
Every app connects to the same address:
https://api.scene24.so/mcp
Claude Code
On Your AI, choose Claude Code and make a connection. Paste the command it shows into your terminal: it adds Scene24 for every project. Run /mcp in Claude Code to see it connected. Claude Code can also sign in without a key: add the address alone and run /mcp to authenticate.
Codex CLI
On Your AI, choose Codex CLI and make a connection. Keep the key it shows in your shell profile as SCENE24_TOKEN, then add Scene24 to ~/.codex/config.toml:
[mcp_servers.scene24] url = "https://api.scene24.so/mcp" bearer_token_env_var = "SCENE24_TOKEN" tool_timeout_sec = 300
Codex gives a tool 60 seconds by default. A build can take most of a minute, so the config raises tool_timeout_sec to 300. Start Codex and run /mcp to see Scene24 connected.
ChatGPT
In ChatGPT, open Plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server. Name it Scene24, paste the address as its URL and choose OAuth. Confirm the notice and select Create as a plugin. ChatGPT sends you to Scene24 to allow it; once you do, it signs in on its own.
Custom MCP servers are not on every ChatGPT plan, and in a work or school workspace an admin may have to allow them first.
claude.ai and Claude Desktop
Open Customize, then Connectors. Select +, then Add custom connector, name it Scene24 and paste the address. Keep the sign-in Claude suggests and select Add. Claude sends you to Scene24 to allow it.
Custom connectors work on every Claude plan, and the free plan has room for one. On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector for the organization first, and each member then connects their own account.
Check the connection
Ask your AI to check your Scene24 connection. It calls check_connection, which answers with the Scene24 account it acts for (partly hidden), the connection's name, how many films you have left this month, and a test card: a picture with one word on it.
Your AI shows the same word. If your AI tells you that word, pictures reach it, so it can also look at your film's preview stills. While you connect ChatGPT or Claude, the page follows each step: the app finds Scene24, you allow it, it signs in, it makes its first call, and it reads the card.
Tools
Each tool says whether it only reads or changes something, so your app knows when to ask you first.
Reads
These only look. Your app can run them without asking each time.
- check_connection
- Who Scene24 is connected as, the films you have left this month, and a test card.
- get_film_kit_guide
- The film_kit manual and an example builder. Your AI reads it before it writes a film.
- get_film_kit_api
- Every film_kit function and its signature.
- list_references
- The reference ads, your own uploads included, searchable by name or look.
- get_reference
- One reference beat by beat, with a contact sheet of the whole ad.
- list_films
- Your films, newest first, and how many you have left this month.
- get_film
- Where a film stands, with its brand, screens and last builder.
- show_panels
- The film's screens and logo as one picture.
- get_build
- The last build's result, or its stage while it runs.
- wait_for_film
- Waits until a capture, build or preview is done.
- get_preview
- The last preview stills of a film.
- get_aspects
- The frames a film can be shown and exported at, with each cut's check.
- get_export
- Where a film's MP4 exports stand, with download links once they are done.
Changes your films
These make or change films in your workspace. None of them removes anything, and a build never overwrites changes you made in the editor unless you agree.
- start_film
- Opens a film for a product's URL: captures the site and reads its brand.
- set_brand
- Corrects the brand Scene24 read: colours, fonts, wordmark and logo.
- request_screens
- Asks you for screens from behind your login, on a page where you paste or upload them.
- cancel_screens
- Takes back screens it asked for and no longer needs.
- request_upload
- A link to upload a product screenshot for a film.
- add_panel
- Adds an uploaded screenshot to the film's screens.
- build_film
- Runs the film's builder, checks the result and saves it as the film.
- edit_film
- Changes part of the builder and builds again.
- render_preview
- Renders preview stills of the saved film.
- restore_pass
- Takes the film back to an earlier pass, built again as a new one.
- export_film
- Renders the film to MP4, at its own frame or the cuts you ask for.
- share_film
- Makes a public link that plays the film for anyone who has it, with an embed code. Only when you want one.
Deletes
These remove something for good: a film, or a film's public share links. Your AI names the film and asks you before it calls one.
- delete_film
- Deletes a film, its versions and exports for good, after you confirm.
- unshare_film
- Ends a film's public share links. The film and its MP4 stay.
What it uses
- The site you name: Scene24 opens it the way a visitor would and keeps its screens, logo, colours and fonts for the film.
- The screenshots you give your AI for a film, stored with that film.
- Your films, their versions and preview stills, in your Scene24 workspace like the films you make on Home.
- Never your conversation: Scene24 receives the tool calls your AI makes, not what you say to it, and never sees your account in that app.
- Connection keys are stored as fingerprints, never the keys themselves. For a day, Scene24 also keeps each connection's last call (which tool, whether it worked, how long it took) to show on Your AI.
Limits
- A film counts once against your month, however many times your AI builds it. Framings of the same film for other aspect ratios (9:16, 1:1, 4:5) are not extra films.
- A film whose site cannot be read, or that never gets a build, is given back to your month, up to three a month.
- Every call answers within about 50 seconds. Longer work carries on, and the answer says what to call next, so nothing runs twice.
- Up to 60 builds and 30 preview renders per film.
- Up to ten connections at a time. An app connection that lapsed does not count.
Disconnect
Revoke a connection on Your AI and that app loses access at once. You can also remove Scene24 in the app itself.
